Covid-19 changed the world as we know it, and the fall-out of the pandemic is far reaching. This was why RT36 Walvis Bay used our Winter Knights pre-distribution funds to assist our community. The Namibian Area approached our sponsors and got the go ahead to do things a bit different this year. Instead of handing out blankets we used our funds to help in the fight against Covid-19.
On 13 April 2020 we arranged with the Local Authority and the Namibian Police to assist with the distribution of food and alcohol based hand sanitizers to old age homes and children’s homes in Kuisebmond, Narraville and in Town.
Getting all items sorted and pre-packed into more manageable parcels took a few days before the distribution date. The following places were assisted.
Kuisebmond Pre-Primary School consisting of 44 households.
Kuisebmond Old Age Home – 36 parcels.
Narraville Senior Citizens -35 parcels.
Jonah Kids Home – 18 parcels.
Huis Palms Old Age Home – cleaning material and sanitizers.
His House Frail Care – bulk food, cleaning material and sanitizers.
Kidshaven Children’s home – bulk food, cleaning material and sanitizers.
RT36 is blessed to have partners who assisted. The Namibian Police who escorted us and made sure social distancing was upheld. MegaSave Swakopmund who sponsored certain food items. Bay Wash Chemicals who sponsored all the disinfectants and alcohol based hand sanitizers.
