The Annual Round Table Hochland 154 Medic Rush 2025 set up mobile clinics in Tsumkwe, in the remote North-East region of Namibia. This is an annual initiative which started 18 years ago by Dr. Vaja Zatjirua, a Neurologist and former member of RT Hochland 154. The project travels to different rural areas of Namibia each year to dispense much needed medical aid.
Mobile clinics were set up from the 26th – the 29th of May 2025 for the communities in Tsumkwe, Ben-se-Pos, N#ama, and Dou. The whole team travelled a total of 1650km from Windhoek and back.
There were 750 patients seen who otherwise would have needed to travel 280kms to the nearest hospital in Grootfontein.
Roughly N$ 240,000.00 of medicine and medical supplies were dispensed at no charge to assist those in need.
There were a total of 22 medical doctors in different fields of specialisation, medical students, medical interns, medical officers and nurses who accompanied the team from Hochland 154. These all gave up their time for free to see patients and serve the community. Basic sanitation products were also dispensed in order to help prevent the possible spread of contagious diseases.
The role of Round Table Hochland 154 in this project is to organise sponsors, run the logistics, and house and feed all doctors present. A total of 13 Round Tablers (members of Round Table) also gave up their free time to support the project and make sure the doctor’s time could be maximized for seeing patients. Matthew Vudzijena from Hochland 154 convened the project.
A big thank you to our sponsors without whom this is not possible: The FNB Foundation, Gondwana Namibia, The Rare Smokey Mare, Future Media and Round Table Austria.
Yours In Table
Werner Wormsbaecher
Namibia Area Chairman.
